SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME
OutlineAll participants to the XXIX ICPIG will enjoy the following academic events. GENERAL LECTURES (Invited) There will be 10 general lectures, given by leaders in several fields of the physics of ionized gases.
TOPICAL LECTURES (Invited)
There will be 24 lectures, covering all the topics of the ICPIG, given by top specialists in their fields.
WORKSHOPS
The LOC, in conjunction with the ISC have organised two workshops:
Nonequilibrium phenomena in ion, electron and positron transport in gases: Data needs and applications Non-thermal plasma physics relevant to fusion
CONTRIBUTED PAPERS – POSTER SESSIONS
All interested participants are kindly invited to present the latest results of their scientific work in one of the ICPIG subject areas. These contributions will be presented in one of several Poster Sessions that will give the opportunity to all participants to present and discuss their work, as well as becoming aware of the recent advances in nearly all the fields of plasma physics.
VON ENGEL PRIZE
The Von Engel Prize is awarded bienially to an individual for an outstanding career in the field of the physics and technology of plasmas and ionized gases, as covered by ICPIG meetings. The selection is based on either long-standing and important contributions to the field, or an outstanding achievement giving new impulse to the field, or both. IUPAP YOUNG SCIENTIST PRIZE IN PLASMA PHYSICS, 2009
The recipient of this prize should at most have 8 years of post PhD research on July 1, 2009. She/He should have performed original work of outstanding scientific quality in the area of the physics of low temperature plasmas. PROCEEDINGS and CONFERENCE MATERIALS After approval, all submitted papers will be edited on a CD, and their abstracts will be published in a separate book to be distributed at the start of the conference.
A booklet containing all the details of the conference schedule, lectures, workshops, poster sessions, prizes and other events will be available for all registered participants.
The General and Topical Lectures will be published in a special issue of the prestigious journal Plasma Sources Science and Technology. All contributions will be subjected to regular, strict refereeing procedures.
The Workshop lectures will be published in a separate issue. |
